Overcoming challenges...I feel like that could describe my whole day, sometimes! Getting the kids up and ready for school, finding activities for them that keep them ALL happy across the age divides, helping them with homework...those are all things I find challenging! But, OK. A specific time, a specific challenge.

My instinct is to wonder why I have to go so far back in my memory to find one, but I'm going to ignore that voice because A) my memory sucks and B) this one just sticks out because it's one that has shaped the rest of my life.

After I got divorced, I was a single mom living off the kindness of her parents. I needed a job, but I was a 3x college dropout living 300 miles from my home of the last decade. I was starting from square one, or so it felt. I didn't have a college degree, and I didn't have a lot of options in my small town. What I did have? A camera.

From my dusty garage, I started the business that led me to where I am. Selling sessions dirt cheap to pay for furniture, props, and wardrobe for the empire I was sure I was building. I'm so proud of that woman back then, who worked her way up slowly but surely to create this business that has given me so many opportunities, and so many clients a new adventure to brag about. I hope I can keep channeling the determination, courage, and positive mindset that I had back then that led me to success...I have more kids now, and LORD am I way more tired than I was back then! But I'm still determined not to stop, not to rest where I am and call it good. I want to keep working my way up, up, up. I want to see how high I can go.
